JavaFX really hones in on the 'Model View Controller (MVC)' pattern of GUI development which could be a really good learning opportunity when it comes to architecture/patterns.

Maybe budget can be a factor too, though we could definitely buy a few licenses (we are dropping PowerAMC because of its price, so any spending must be justified).
